To Post or Not to Post, that is the question!!
People ask me all the time how often should I post. The answer is simple yet complex. The whole reason for social media marketing is to engage your audience and keep them interested. This is a tricky thing to do. If you don’t post enough you fall by the wayside. If you post to much you risk irritating your audience and they delete you. It also has much to do with your content. Your followers chose to follow you for a reason. You gave them something they were interested in. Continue to do so. Know your audience and give them what they want.
Posting 101
One of the worst posting mistakes is posting mostly about yourself as a company. No one wants to see a “commercial” about you every time they see your name scroll up in their feed. Remember this is SOCIAL MEDIA, vary your subject matter to your audience. Try to keep self-promoting posts to a minimum. In my opinion, this is about 20% to 35%. Facebook recommends 25% of your post be sales post or self-promoting post. You can be clever, for example, take a picture of some product that just arrived and say “look at all these widgets we got in today for customers! This doesn’t seem like a sales post however in a subliminal way it really IS!!! This way you are keeping them interested in you but are keeping them interested in following you. I hope this helps in your decisions on when to post and when not to post.
