Not all website builders are created equal!

One of the most frequent questions asked by my clients is “Which website builder is the best?” My answer is always the same – WordPress.

Today’s website platform options have changed enormously from just a few short years ago. There are DYI systems from which you can create a website on your own. There are now even “drag and drop” website builders where all you have to do is – well, drag and drop your content, videos and images into pre-designed spaces. Sure, this enables a non-techie to build a website but at what cost? The problem is that these systems lack very important features that could cause major problems with your website.

Not all website builders are created equal!

There is a reason that professional developers consider WordPress the #1 platform for building a website. This content management system (CMS) powers such sites as NASA, CNN, eBay, The New York Times and many other well-known companies.

A CMS determines how well your site runs and WordPress has the features that enable your site to run flawlessly. This is because it has several very important advantages over other systems.

Do you want your site to be seen?

If you want your site to be seen and rank high in search engine results, then WordPress is for you.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is used to help a website rank higher on search engines, such as Google, Chrome or Bing. WordPress is coded to be SEO-friendly, providing themes that are designed with current SEO standards in mind, plus a wide variety of plugins that help developers fine-tune every aspect of SEO. Good SEO practices make WordPress sites Google-friendly ensuring that your site is easy to find and prominently displayed in Google’s results pages. This is a huge asset.
  • Google loves speed. WordPress loads your site quickly and efficiently.
  • WordPress also follows best practices as laid out by Google, Bing and Yahoo and works compatibly in a multitude of browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer and others. Sites that are hand-coded have to take each browser’s quirks into account and it takes a long time for a developer to ensure your website displays properly on each of them. That means more time to complete your site, and will therefore, cost you more money. WordPress’ built-in browser compatibility is a keeper.
  • WordPress is responsive and mobile friendly. Sites today have to be able to display not just on a desktop or laptop, but on smartphones and tablets. WordPress, with its responsive themes and programming is already mobile friendly!
  • WordPress will save you money. If you think that creating a website on your own using a DIY web builder will save you money, I would urge you to think again. WordPress gives a developer all the needed basics from the get-go; so once again, less time means more savings for you. Also, if you think you can save money by using a DIY website builder, I would urge you to reconsider. In the very likely event that your competitors are using WordPress for their sites and you aren’t, they are also very likely to be taking away all your business. That can certainly hurt your bottom line.
  • Security from hackers is assured as WordPress constantly updates its software to prevent attacks and address the latest issues and concerns.
